Salinas and Cremers Lead Drovers to Victory at Ottawa
OTTAWA, Kan. – Monday afternoon, the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (6-0-1, 0-0 SAC) remained unbeaten with a 2-1 road-victory at Ottawa University (0-2, 0-0 KCAC). So far this season, USAO has already strung together a pair of three-game win streaks with a tie sandwiched in the middle. Furthermore, they have outscored their opponents 21-7 through the first seven games of the 2024 campaign.
The Drovers wasted little time to take the lead on Monday, scoring in the 6th minute as Daniela Salinas scored her conference-leading 8th goal of the season, assisted by Ashlee Davison. The Drovers continued to control the pace for majority of the remainder of the first half but were unable to add to their lead and took a 1-0 lead into halftime.
Following the break, the Drovers stretched their lead to 2-0 in the 63rd minute as Mabel Cremers used a long, bending shot on a free-kick to score her first goal of the season.
Ottawa made things interesting by cutting their deficit to 2-1 with a goal in the 75th minute.
The Drovers played strong defense for the remainder of the contest and wrapped up the victory to remain unbeaten.
As a team, USAO attempted 18 shots, with 11 being on goal, while Ottawa attempted eight shots, four of which were on target. The Drovers were whistled for six fouls, while the Braves committed seven infractions.
Caitlin Bishop earned her third win of the season, stopping three of the four shots that came her way.
Hours prior to Monday's contest, Daniela Salinas was selected as the Sooner Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the second time in the last three weeks. In her last three games played, Salinas has scored five goals. She currently ranks 6th in the NAIA in goals (8) scored and 8th in points (17). Additionally, she leads the Sooner Athletic Conference in goals scored and total points.

The Drovers will return home and host their final non-conference game of the season against Bellevue University on Saturday, September 14. Kick-off is scheduled for 5:00 PM CT at McLaughlin Field.
