Drovers Improve to 36-4 Over Last 40 Games Against MACU

CHICKASHA, Okla. – Friday afternoon, the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (11-10, 1-3 SAC) opened a three-game series with an impressive 7-1 victory against Mid-American Christian University (18-5, 2-2 SAC).

With the win, the Drovers improve to 43-7 all-time against the Evangels, which includes a stretch of 36 wins in the last 40 games against MACU.

After neither team was able to score in the first two innings of the contest, the Drovers claimed the first lead with a three-run outburst in the bottom of the third inning.

Science & Arts extended the lead to 4-0 an inning later.

MACU cut the deficit to three with a solo homerun in the top of the sixth inning, and the score remained 4-1 until the bottom of the eighth.

USAO was able to push across a pair of insurance runs in the eighth inning, followed by lockdown ninth inning by Josh Harrel, to finish his complete-game performance.

Harrel was brilliant on the mound as he improved his record to 4-1 this season. He surrendered only two hits and one earned run, while striking out seven batters in 9.0 innings of work.

The Drover offense was extremely potent, producing 14 hits, while the Evangels only managed two.

USAO was led by Gage Gaunt's big day at the plate, going 3-4 with a pair of doubles, two runs scored, and two runs batted in.

Christopher Martinez and Peyton McDowall each finished 2-4 at the dish. Martinez added a run batted in, while McDowall scored a run.

Gunnar Hansen went 2-3 with a pair of singles, and Ryan Duncan concluded 2-3 with a pair of RBIs.
