
USAO Dealt a 79-70 Loss Against WBU
CHICKASHA, Okla. – Saturday afternoon, the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (3-7, 2-5 SAC) was dealt a 79-70 loss against Wayland Baptist University (8-5, 8-1 SAC).
The teams traded baskets in the opening few minutes, but then WBU used a 13-5 run to hold a 19-12 lead midway through the opening half. However, the Drovers answered with a 10-2 run of their own to claim a 22-21 lead with 6:11 to play in the half. The Pioneers closed the half strong and took a 39-32 advantage going into halftime.
In the first half, the score was tied four times, and the lead was exchanged six times.
Following the break, the Pioneers continued to stretch their lead, commanding a 17-point advantage with 11:02 to play in the game. The Drovers slowly chipped away at the deficit and cut WBU's lead to single digits late in the game, but they were unable to overcome their deficit.
USAO's offense closed the game shooting 21-54 (.389) from the field, 6-13 (.462) from beyond the arc, and 22-27 (.815) from the free-throw line. In comparison, Wayland Baptist University shot 33-73 (.452) from the field, 8-30 (.267) from deep, and 5-8 (.625) from the charity stripe.
The Drovers scored 28 points in the paint and hauled in 33 rebounds. In comparison, the Pioneers scored 48 points in the paint and grabbed 46 rebounds, 20 of which came on the offensive end.
USAO committed 11 turnovers, which led to 13 points for WBU. Meanwhile, the Pioneers fumbled the ball only nine times, resulting in seven points for the Drovers.
USAO was whistled for 11 fouls, while WBU was called for 18 violations.
Four different Drovers scored in double figures, led by Cade Allen's 17 points on 6-9 shooting from the field, including 4-6 from beyond the arc.
Ryein Kennedy contributed 14 points, three rebounds, and two steals.
Mohand Ammad and Lendy Holmes each concluded with 13 points. Ammad added a rebound and a steal, while Holmes hauled in two rebounds.
Tre Edwards finished with seven points, two rebounds, two assists, and two steals, while Jaden Harrell added six points, four rebounds, and five assists.
Tyler Cauley hauled in a team-high of seven rebounds, in addition to three assists and a pair of steals.

The Drovers will return to Brisco McPherson Court on Monday, December 16 as they host Lincoln Lion Day as the Drovers play a pair of games against OPSU. The women's game is scheduled to tip-off at 12:00 PM CT, followed by the men's contest at 2:00 PM CT inside Drover Fieldhouse.
