Physical Contest Against LSUS Ends in Stalemate

CHICKASHA, Okla. – Saturday afternoon, the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (1-1-1, 0-0 SAC) battled their way to a 1-1 draw against Louisiana State University Shreveport (1-1-1, 0-0 RRAC).

 

 The Drovers managed to jump out to an early lead as Justin Croke found the back of the net off an assist from Matija Malenovic in the 13th minute of the contest. USAO remained in the lead until the 72nd minute when LSUS was able to strike for the equalizer off the foot of Bernardo Pacheco.

Both teams had several chances to score in the final minutes of the game, but neither team was able to capitalize.

 

As a team, USAO attempted 11 shots, six of which went on goal, while LSUS attempted 13 shots and only put four on target. The physical contest featured 36 foul calls and nine cards were issued. The Drovers were whistled for 20 fouls, while the Pilots were called for 16 violations.

 

Angel Diaz was solid for USAO between the pipes, stopping three of the four shots that he faced.

 

WHAT'S NEXT?

The Drovers will return to action on Tuesday, August 29 when they travel up to Hillsboro, Kan. to face Tabor College. Kick-off is scheduled for 8:30 PM CT.
