Drovers Earn Shutout on the Road at Central Christian

MCPHERSON, Kan. – Tuesday afternoon, the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (7-7-3, 3-4-1 SAC) earned their third win in a row, in a 3-0 effort at Central Christian College (9-4-2, 4-4 SAC). The Drovers are now 6-2 against the Tigers all-time, dating back to October of 2017.

After a bit of a slow start to the game, the Drovers managed to take the first lead of the game with Leonardo Schneider's second goal of the season, assisted by Darko Borisavljevic in the 36th minute. USAO played strong defense in the closing minutes of the opening half and took a one-goal lead into halftime.

Following the break, USAO extended the lead to 2-0 in the 55th minute on a penalty-kick from Angelo Leendertse, for his third goal of the season. The Drovers got one more insurance goal from Borisavljevic in the 74th minute, for his fourth goal of the season, assisted by Matija Malenovic.

As a team, USAO attempted 16 shots, with six being on goal, while Central Christian attempted 11 shots, with two being on target. The Drovers were whistled for 19 fouls, while the Tigers committed 11 infractions.

Angel Diaz was stellar between the pipes for USAO once more, stopping both shots that came his way, earning his first shutout of the season.

The dynamic duo of Justin Croke and Matija Malenovic has been wreaking havoc on the Sooner Athletic Conference this season. Croke currently ranks eighth in the SAC in goals (7), third in assists (9), and seventh in points (23), while Malenovic ranks sixth in goals (8), fifth in assists (8), and fourth in points (24).

WHAT'S NEXT?

The Drovers will return to the pitch for their final regular season game on Saturday, October 28 as they travel to Goodwell, Okla. for a 2:30 PM CT kick-off at OPSU.

With one game remaining in the regular season, the Drovers sit in a tie for fifth place and the top eight teams in the conference will qualify for the SAC Tournament. The top four seeds will earn a bid to host for the opening round of the tournament, and the highest seed will host for the remainder of the way.
