Drovers and Bluejays Conclude in a Stalemate

CHICKASHA, Okla. – Tuesday night, the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (0-2-1, 0-0 SAC) battled through tough conditions to a 1-1 draw against Tabor College (0-0-1, 0-0 KCAC). USAO controlled possession of the ball for majority of contest but were unable to hold off the scrappy Bluejays squad. Additionally, the Drovers were having to battle through some adversity early in the season, with numerous starters out of the lineup, due to injury.

The Drovers captured the first lead of the game in the 19^th minute, as Darko Borisavljevic pounced on a loose ball in front of the net and snuck it past the keeper for his first goal of the season, and the 16^th of his marvelous career.

USAO continued to produce scoring chances, and hit the posts several times, but were only able to take a one-goal lead into halftime.  

Following the break, the Bluejays immediately struck for the equalizer, scoring in the 47^th minute of regulation. The second half was much more evenly played, with both teams having several scoring chances. However, neither team was able to break through and strike for the game-winner, thus resulting in a tie.

As a team, USAO attempted 19 shots, with eight being on goal, while Tabor attempted only eight shots, seven of which were on target. The Drovers were whistled for five fouls, while the Bluejays committed four infractions. Yellow cards were issued to a pair of players for each team. 

Angel Diaz got the start for USAO between the pipes and was stellar, stopping six of the seven shots that came his way. Many of Diaz's saves showcased his tremendous athleticism, as he sprawled from post to post.

The Drovers return to the pitch on Saturday, August 31 as they host a showdown against Our Lady of the Lake University (Texas). Kick-off is scheduled for 2:30 PM CT at McLaughlin Field.
