Drovers Score Early and Often to Defeat Sterling College
CHICKASHA, Okla. – Saturday afternoon, the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (2-3-1, 0-0 SAC) got back on track with a dominant 8-3 triumph against Sterling College (1-3-1, 0-0 KCAC). The Drovers scored early and often as they cruised to their second win of the season.
USAO wasted no time getting on the scoreboard as Ifeanyi Godwin scored his first goal of the season only 1:24 into the contest, assisted by Cameron Crook. Less than two minutes later, Callum Shepherd scored his first goal of the season to give USAO an early two-goal lead. Shepherd would quickly add his second goal of the game less than two minutes later, off an assist from Sebastian Boldt.
After scoring three goals in the first five minutes of the contest, the Drovers cooled down momentarily and surrendered their first goal against in the 21st minute.
The Drovers bounced back and pushed the lead to 4-1 in the 31st minute as Callum Scott found the back of the net off an assist from Leonardo Schneider. Scott then added an assist in the 39th minute as Stijn Iding scored the final goal of the first half, and gave the Drovers a 5-1 advantage going into halftime.
Following the break, the Drovers continued to dominate and extended the lead to 6-1 in the 55th minute as Roberto Serrano scored his first goal of the season, once again assisted by Callum Scott.
Sterling trimmed their deficit to 6-2 in the 68th minute on a goal from Daniel Stone.
Mihajlo Blazic gave USAO a 7-2 lead with his first goal of the season, off an assist from Dani Suarez in the 69th minute. Roberto Serrano scored his second goal of the game in the 87th minute, assisted by Callum Shepherd to give the Drovers an 8-2 advantage.
The Warriors scored their final goal with less than a minute remaining in the game.
As a team, USAO attempted 22 shots, with 14 being on goal, while Sterling attempted 13 shots, only four of which were on target. The Drovers were whistled for nine fouls, while the Warriors committed seven infractions.
Angel Diaz and Harry Cracknell split time between the pipes in the win for USAO.

The Drovers will be back in action on Wednesday, September 11 as they travel to Bethel College. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:00 PM CT in North Newton, Kan.
