Strong Second Half Propels Drovers to Victory at Bethel
NORTH NEWTON, Kan. – Wednesday night, the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (3-3-1, 0-0 SAC) continued to show improvement, claiming their second win in a row with a 4-1 performance at Bethel College (1-4, 0-0 KCAC). Furthermore, the Drovers have won three of their last four games, and their lone loss was a 1-0 decision on the road at No. 1 MidAmerica Nazarene University last week.
The Threshers were the first to claim the lead on Wednesday, scoring on a scramble in front of the USAO net in the 15th minute. However, the Drovers would tie the score at 1-1 in the 24th minute as Ifeanyi Godwin scored on a header off a pass on a corner-kick from Cameron Crook.
Neither team managed to score for the remainder of the half and went into halftime with a 1-1 tie.
Following the break, the Drovers captured their first lead of the game as Fabian Romero scored his first goal in the green and gold. Romero's found the back of the net in the 63rd minute off an assist from Callum Scott. Four minutes later, USAO extended the lead to 3-1 as Darko Borisavljevic scored his team-leading third goal of the season. The Drovers added more insurance in the 75th minute as Romero scored his second goal of the game, assisted by Sebastian Boldt.
As a team, USAO attempted 16 shots, with nine being on goal, while Bethel attempted 12 shots, 10 of which were on target. The Drovers were whistled for four fouls, while the Threshers committed five infractions.
Angel Diaz was sensational between the pipes for USAO, stopping nine of the ten shots that came his way. Diaz leads the Sooner Athletic Conference in saves (24) and ranks 4th in save percentage (.750).

The Drovers will be back at home on Saturday, September 14 as they host No. 5 ranked Bellevue University. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM CT at McLaughlin Field.
