Drovers Shutout the Tigers on Senior Night

CHICKASHA, Okla. – Tuesday evening, the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (6-5-4, 3-2-2 SAC) cruised to a dominant 5-0 victory on Senior Night against Central Christian College (5-8-2, 1-5-1 SAC). The Drovers are now 7-2-1 against the Tigers all-time, dating back to October of 2017. Additionally, the Drovers remain unbeaten at home during the 2024 regular season, having gone 5-0-3 at McLaughlin Field. 

 

 The Drovers celebrated their senior class in style with a ferocious opening half, tallying four goals in the opening 45 minutes of action. Fabian Romero quickly gave the Drovers the lead with his fourth goal of the season, assisted by Dani Suarez in the fifth minute of the game. Surez would then extend the lead to 2-0 with his third goal of the season, coming on a penalty-kick in the 13th minute. Callum Shepherd tallied his fourth goal of the season in the 21st minute, assisted by Fabian Romero. Callum Scott struck for his second goal of the season in the 35th minute, once again assisted by Romero. 

 

Following halftime, USAO continued to hold Central Christian scoreless and added one final insurance goal. Darko Borisavljevic put away his fifth goal of the season in the 73rd minute, assisted by Callum Scott.

 

As a team, USAO attempted 20 shots, with 12 being on goal, while CCC attempted 12 shots, four of which were on target. USAO attempted four corner kicks and Central Christian had six attempts out of the offensive corners. The Drovers were whistled for 19 fouls, while the Tigers committed 11 infractions. USAO was issued four yellow cards and CCC earned three yellow cards.

 

Angel Diaz was perfect between the pipes for USAO, stopping all four shots that came his way, earning his sixth shutout of the season. Diaz ranks first in the Sooner Athletic Conference in saves (57) and second in save percentage (.781).

 

WHAT'S NEXT?

The Drovers will now hit the road for a double-header at Oklahoma City University on Saturday, October 26. The women's game is scheduled to kick-off at 5:00 PM CT, followed by the men's game at 7:30 PM CT at Brian Harvey Field in Oklahoma City.
