Drovers set for third indoor meet
-Members of the USAO men's and women's track and field team will have another chance at qualifying for the NAIA Indoor Championships when they compete at the University of Central Oklahoma Broncho Open on Saturday, Feb. 10.
The meet, which will feature several NCAA Division II and NAIA teams, will be at the campus of the Moser Indoor Facility on the campus of the University of Oklahoma in Norman.
USAO Coach Sid Hudson is sending six men and one woman to the meet. It will be the third indoor competition for the Drovers this year. USAO will have five runners competing in the one-mile race: Dylan Keegan (FR/Dublin, Ireland), Travis Hubbard (JR/Skiatook, OK), Chris Garcia (SO/Ardmore, OK) and Damien Armendariz.
The NAIA automatic qualifying time is 4:19.50 with the provisional mark at 4:22. Keegan achieved the best one-mile time for USAO when he ran a 4:27 at the Sooner Invitational. He already earned qualification for the 3000 meter race from an event earlier this season.
The Drovers will also have Chris Wise (FR/Moore, OK) compete in the shot put and Tucker Mora (FR/Waurika, OK) in the high jump. Mora fell just short of the 6-6 qualifying mark last week when he finished second with a jump of 6-4 ¾. USAO also will enter Sharon Singoei (FR/Kenya), a freshman from Kenya, in the women's one-mile race.
