#23 USAO Comes Up Short on the Road Against #25 MidAmerica Nazarene

WICHITA, Kan. – Tuesday afternoon, the No. 23 ranked University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (1-1, 0-0 SAC) suffered a tough 6-1 loss in a top 25 showdown on the road against No. 25 MidAmerica Nazarene University (1-0, 0-0 HAAC). With the temperatures reaching over 100 degrees outside, the highly anticipated contest was moved to a neutral site in Wichita, Kan, and was played under a dome at the Striker Sports Complex.

The Pioneers quickly and emphatically took an early lead, scoring three goals in the opening 17 minutes of action. The Drovers were able to cut the deficit to 3-1 in the 36th minutes as Luna Knoester found Dagbjort Gudmunsdottir for her third goal of the season. However, USAO was unable to tighten the deficit in the final minutes of the half.

Following the break, MNU continued to control the pace and scored a trio of goals, while holding USAO scoreless in the final 45 minutes of action.

Despite being outscored on the scoreboard, the Drovers did put more shots on goal than the Pioneers, by a narrow margin of 8-7.

Caitlyn Bishop and Ashlyn Lonberg each delivered 45 minutes of work between the pipes, and each keeper surrendered three goals.

WHAT'S NEXT?

The Drovers aim to bounce back to form as they return to action on Saturday, August 26 in a non-conference battle against LSU-Shreveport. Kick-off is scheduled for 9:00 AM CT.
