Rey Scores Five Goals as #23 USAO Cruises Past Ottawa

CHICKASHA, Okla. – Saturday night, the No. 23 ranked University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (4-1, 0-0 SAC) earned their third consecutive victory with a dominant 6-1 performance against Ottawa University (0-2, 0-0 KCAC). Alicia Rey highlighted the victory with FIVE goals, which ties a program-record for most goals scored in a single game.

After only six minutes of scoreless action, Alicia Rey struck for her first goal of the game in the sixth minute as she intercepted a pass and beat the defense to give USAO an early lead.

Rey's second goal of the contest came in the 14th minute off an assist from Avery Walker, followed by Rey's third goal in the 18th minute, once again assisted by Walker.

Three minutes later, Rey scored her fourth goal off an assist from Dagbjort Gudmunsdottir to give the Drovers a 4-0 lead going into halftime.

Following the break, Rey scored her fifth and final goal of the contest in the 57th minute, once again assisted by Gudmunsdottir. USAO extended the lead to 6-0 in the 75th minute as Katie O'Keefe scored her first goal of the season.

Ottawa's lone goal of the contest came in the final minute of regulation, but it was far too little, too late for the Braves.

As a team, the Drovers controlled the ball for the vast majority of the contest, attempting 29 shots, with 16 being on goal. In comparison, Ottawa only attempted three shots, with each being put on target.

Caitlin Bishop and Ashlyn Lonberg split time in goal for USAO, with Bishop getting the start and earning the win.

So far this season, Alicia Rey leads the NAIA in goals scored (8) and points (19), while ranking eighth in assists (3). In her marvelous career, Rey has tallied 52 goals, 30 assists, and 134 points in 65 games played.

Avery Walker currently ranks second in the NAIA in assists (5), and Dagbjort Gudmunsdottir ranks in the top 40 for goals (3) and points (8).
