#23 USAO Dealt Defeat on the Road at #10 Columbia College
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Thursday night, the No. 23 ranked University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (4-1, 0-0 SAC) hit the road for a top 25 showdown and suffered a tough 5-2 loss at No. 10 Columbia College (3-0, 0-0 AMC).
The Drovers were forced to play catch-up almost immediately, as Columbia College was able to jump out to a 1-0 lead in only the 2nd minute of the contest. The Cougars stretched their lead to 3-0 with a strike in the 19th minute, followed by another in the 29th minute. Neither team was able to score for the remainder of the half and CC took a 3-0 lead into halftime.
Following the break, CC quickly found the back of the net and continued to pull away from USAO, scoring on a penalty kick in the 48th minute. The Drovers found their first spark as Alicia Rey scored her ninth goal of the season, off an assist from Dagbjort Gudmunsdottir in the 53rd minute to cut the deficit to 4-1.
Columbia once again made it a four-goal difference with a goal in the 65th minute. USAO cut the deficit to 5-2 with Alicia Rey's second goal of the game in the 87th minute.
As a team, the Cougars attempted 19 shots, with 11 being on goal, while the Drovers attempted 11 shots with eight being on target. USAO was whistled for nine fouls, while CC committed seven violations.
Despite the loss, Alicia Rey continued to shine as she leads the NAIA in goals scored (10) and points (23). In her marvelous career, Rey has tallied 54 goals, 30 assists, and 136 points in 66 games played.

The Drovers will return to action on Saturday, September 9 as they play a non-conference contest at Baker University. Kick-off is scheduled for 5:00 PM CT in Baldwin City, Kan.
