#23 USAO Earns Shutout Victory on the Road at Baker University

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – Saturday evening, the No. 23 ranked University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (5-2, 0-0 SAC) got back on track with a 2-0 shutout victory on the road at Baker University (1-4-1, 0-0 HAAC).

The Drovers took an early lead as Alicia Rey struck for her 11^th goal of the season in the 7^th minute, off an assist from Daniela Salinas. USAO stretched the lead to 2-0 in the 19^th minute, as Laura Barrantes scored her first of the year, once again assisted by Alicia Rey. The score remained 2-0 until the halftime buzzer.

Following the break, neither team was able to score in the final 45 minutes, giving USAO their third shutout of the season.

As a team, the Drovers attempted 22 shots, with nine being on goal, while the Wildcats attempted five shots with two being on target. USAO was whistled for 12 fouls, while BU committed 13 violations. 

Ashlyn Lonberg got the start for USAO between the pipes and stopped two shots en route to her first clean-sheet of the 2023 campaign.

Alicia Rey continued to shine as she remains as the NAIA leader in goals scored (11) and points (26). In her marvelous career, Rey has tallied 55 goals, 31 assists, and 139 points in 67 games played.

The Drovers will return home and recover their bodies for the week, prior to concluding the non-conference portion of the schedule against Ottawa University – Arizona on Saturday, September 16. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:00 PM CT at McLaughlin Field.
