#25 USAO Falls to #15 JBU in Conference Opener

CHICKASHA, Okla. – Tuesday night, the No. 25 ranked University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (5-4, 0-0 SAC) suffered a 4-2 loss in the conference-opener against No. 15 John Brown University (7-2, 0-0 SAC).

The opening 20 minutes of the contest was very evenly matched, but the Drovers began to gain momentum and claimed the first lead of the game with a goal in the 23rd minute, off the foot of Alicia Rey. Rey's strike was her conference-leading 13th of the season, assisted by Avery Walker.

Following Rey's goal, neither team was able to find the back of the net for the remainder of the first half.

Following the break, the Golden Eagles flipped the switch and scored for unanswered goals to take a commanding 4-1 lead late into the second half. The Drovers cut the deficit to 4-2 with Laura Barrantes' first goal of the season on a penalty-kick in the 88th minute, but it was too little, too late.

As a team, USAO attempted 12 shots, with six being on goal, while JBU attempted 20 shots, with nine being on target.

Caitlin Bishop got the start for USAO in goal and made five saves. Ashlyn Lonberg relieved Bishop in the 82ndminute and held JBU scoreless in the final seven minutes of action.
