Drovers Suffer Rare Loss to OCU

CHICKASHA, Okla. – Tuesday evening, the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (6-5, 1-2 SAC) suffered a tough 2-0 loss against Oklahoma City University (6-3-1, 3-0 SAC). Prior to Tuesday, the Drovers had won each of the last six meetings against the Stars since 2018. Additionally, USAO had not lost to OCU at McLaughlin Field since 2015.

Early in the contest, neither team was able to control ball enough end the offensive end to produce shots, but about midway through the half both offenses began to heat up. While the Drovers created more scoring chances in the half, OCU was able to take the lead on a shot from 40-yards outside the box to capture a 1-0 lead in the 29th minute. Neither team was able to find the back of the net for the remainder of the half and the Stars took a lead into the locker room at the half.

Following the break, the Stars lead remained 1-0 until the 64th minute when they struck for an insurance goal to push the advantage to 2-0. Despite their best efforts the Drovers were unable to get the offense going and were held scoreless for the remainder of regulation.

As a team, USAO attempted 20 shots, with six being on goal, while OCU attempted six shots, with three being on target. The Drovers were whistled for seven fouls, while the Stars committed 10 infractions.
