JBU Snaps USAO’s Win-Streak in SAC Tournament Championship Game
SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. – Friday night, the No. 3 seeded University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (14-6, 7-2 SAC) had their eight-game win-streak snapped with a 3-0 loss in the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament championship game at No. 1 John Brown University (17-2-1, 8-0-1 SAC). Earlier this season when USAO and JBU met in Chickasha, the Golden Eagles came away with a 4-2 win.
The appearance in the championship game was the ninth in a row for USAO and they have met with JBU in each of the last four championship games, with JBU having won each of those matchups.
After the contest opened with 20 minutes of scoreless action, JBU took the first lead of the game on Aubrey Winter's ninth goal of the season. Neither team was able to score for the remainder of the half and JBU took a 1-0 lead into halftime.
Following the break, JBU was able to stretch their lead to 3-0 in the 53rd minute as Lauren Walter's scored a pair of goals. Neither team managed to find the back of the net for the remainder of the game.
As a team, USAO attempted nine shots, with three being on goal, while John Brown attempted 24 shots, with 10 being on target. The Drovers were whistled for nine fouls, while the Golden Eagles committed six infractions.
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Drovers will now await the NAIA Selection Show on Monday, November 13 to find out if they are selected to the NAIA Women's Soccer National Championship tournament with an at-large bid. The selection show will be broadcasted on the NAIA's YouTube channel at 12:00 PM CT.
