The Drovers Bring the Heat to Louisiana and Shutout LSUA

ALEXANDRIA, La. – Saturday afternoon, the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (2-0, 0-0 SAC) continued their impressive start to the season with a 2-0 victory at Louisiana State University Alexandria (1-1, 0-0 RRAC). The win at LSUA follows an incredible 4-2 comeback victory down the road at LSU Shreveport on Thursday. 

 

The opening 30 minutes of Saturday's game were kept scoreless, but Daniela Salinas managed to give the Drovers the first lead with her third goal of the season, coming in the 32nd minute. Salinas' strike was assisted by Andria Harris. The score would remain at 1-0 for the remainder of the opening half. 

 

Despite the low score on the scoreboard, the Drovers dominated the pace of play, outshooting the Generals 6-1.

 

Following the break, the Drovers were able to extend their lead to 2-0 on Clara Rodriguez's goal in the 78thminute, assisted by Mabel Cremers.

 

As a team, USAO attempted 22 shots, with 12 being on goal, while LSUA attempted only four shots, with one being on target. The Drovers were whistled for 16 fouls, while the Generals committed 10 infractions.  

 

Ashlyn Lonberg got the start for USAO between the pipes and earned her second win of the season, stopping one shot in the process. With the win, Lonberg improves her career win-loss record to 13-1.

 

WHAT'S NEXT?

The Drovers return home for a matchup against Tabor College on Tuesday, August 27. Kick-off is scheduled for 5:00 PM CT at McLaughlin Field.
