USAO Scores Late in Tie Against OLLU

CHICKASHA, Okla. – Saturday afternoon, the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (3-0-1, 0-0 SAC) used a late goal to salvage a 1-1 tie against Our Lady of the Lake University (0-1-1, 0-0 RRAC).

The Drovers controlled possession of the ball for majority of the first half but were unable to find the back of the net. Thus, the teams went into halftime tied at 0-0.

Following the break, the Saints looked like a completely different team and controlled possession for majority of the opening minutes of the second half. OLLU took the first lead of the game with a goal in the 53rd minute.

Just minutes before the end of regulation the Drovers showed a sense of urgency and struck for the equalizer in the 87th minute as Chiara Schillinger scored her first goal of the season, assisted by Ilse de Jong.

As a team, USAO attempted 15 shots, with six being on goal, while OLLU attempted 12 shots, with three being on target. The physical contest featured 11 fouls called against each team, as well as a pair of yellow cards for each team.

Ashlyn Lonberg got the start for USAO between the pipes and made two saves in the tie. Lonberg now owns a career win-loss record to 14-1-1.

WHAT'S NEXT?

The Drovers will be back in action on Wednesday, September 4, as they host a non-conference showdown against Southwestern College (Kan.). Kick-off is scheduled for 7:00 PM CT at McLaughlin Field.
