SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. – Saturday afternoon, the No. 24 ranked University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (9-1-1, 2-1 SAC) suffered their first loss of the season with a 2-0 performance at No. 19 John Brown University (6-4-1, 3-0 SAC).
JBU managed to capture an early lead with a goal in the 13th minute and took a 1-0 advantage into halftime.
Following the break, the Drovers kept within striking distance until the 77th minute when the Golden Eagles struck for an insurance goal.
As a team, USAO attempted 12 shots, with seven being on goal, while JBU attempted 19 shots, seven of which were on target. The Drovers were whistled for eight fouls, while the Golden Eagles committed nine infractions. USAO attempted six corner kicks and JBU had nine attempts out of the offensive corners.
Ashlyn Lonberg got the start between the pipes for USAO, stopping five of the seven shots she faced. With the loss, Lonberg owns an impressive career win-loss record to 17-2-1.
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Drovers will return to McLaughlin Field to host a double-header against Oklahoma Panhandle State University on Tuesday, October 8. The games will also be USAO's annual Pink Out, beginning with the women's game at 5:00 PM CT, followed by the men's game at 7:30 PM CT.
