#23 USAO Scores a Half-Dozen and Shuts Out Central Christian on Senior Night

CHICKASHA, Okla. – Tuesday evening, the No. 23 ranked University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (13-1-1, 6-1 SAC) extended their win streak with a 6-0 victory on Senior Night against Central Christian College (5-9, 1-6 SAC). The Drovers are now 10-0 against the Tigers all-time, dating back to October of 2017.

 

The Drovers wasted no time claiming the lead and they never let off the gas. The scoring began with Ilse de Jong striking for her eighth goal of the season in the fifth minute, assisted by Ashlee Davison. Daniela Salinas scored her first of the game and 15th of the season in the sixth minute, assisted by de Jong. Ashlee Davison found the back of the net for the fifth time this season, assisted by Marleen Harbers in the 18thminute. The Drovers remained in control for the rest of the half and took a 3-0 advantage into the break.

 

Following halftime, the Drovers quickly added to their total, as Salinas scored her second of the game and 16th of the season in the 48th minute, off an assist from Caitlin Worthington. Worthington would then score her first goal of the season in the 50th minute, with a helper from de Jong. Emali Goulas tallied her third goal of the season in the 64th minute, with an assist coming from de Jong for the third time in the game. 

 

As a team, USAO attempted 19 shots, with 13 being on goal, while CCC attempted only seven shots, two of which were on target. The Drovers were whistled for 11 fouls, while the Tigers committed two infractions. USAO attempted seven corner kicks and Central Christian had zero attempts out of the offensive corners. 

 

Ashlyn Lonberg got the start between the pipes for USAO and stopped four of the five shots she faces, earning her ninth win of the season. With the victory, Lonberg owns an incredible career win-loss record to 21-2-1.

 

Daniela Salinas now ranks second in the Sooner Athletic Conference in goals (16), as well as second in points (34). Ashlee Davison now ranks second in the conference with eight assists, closely followed by Ilse de Jong in third with seven helpers. 

 

WHAT'S NEXT?

The Drovers will now hit the road for a double-header at Oklahoma City University on Saturday, October 26. The women's game is scheduled to kick-off at 5:00 PM CT, followed by the men's game at 7:30 PM CT at Brian Harvey Field in Oklahoma City.
