No. 23 USAO Suffers First Loss of the Season at No. 15 MNU

OLATHE, Kan. – Saturday afternoon, the No. 23 ranked University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (0-1-1 0-0 SAC) suffered a tough 2-0 loss in a top 25 showdown on the road at MidAmerica Nazarene University (1-0, 0-0 HAAC).

Saturday's contest began with 30 minutes of scoreless action, prior to MNU grabbing a 1-0 lead on a shot from inside the box, deflecting off the keeper's hand into the side of the net. Neither team was able to find the back of the net for the remainder of the half and the Pioneers took a one-goal lead into the break.

Following halftime, MNU doubled their lead with another strike in the 66^th minute on a scrum in front of the net. Both teams were held scoreless for the remainder of the contest, dealing USAO its first loss of the season.

As a team, USAO attempted four shots, with three being on goal, while MidAmerica Nazarene attempted nine shots, six of which were on target. The Pioneers were whistled for seven fouls, while the Drovers committed three infractions. Both teams attempted five corner kicks.   

Ashlyn Lonberg got the start between the pipes for USAO and made four saves.

The Drovers will return home to host LSU Shreveport on Saturday, Aug. 30. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:00 PM CT at McLaughlin Field.
