Drovers Set Multiple Program Records at Harding University

SEARCY, Ark. – On Friday and Saturday, the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma track and field team opened the 2024 outdoor season at the Harding University Multi Invitational in Arkansas and numerous Drovers set new program records.

 

Aarin Simon highlighted the weekend by qualifying for the 2024 NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships with an incredible performance in the men's 400-meter race. Simon crossed the finish line in second place with a time of 48.38.

The men's 4x100-meter relay team, consisting of Aarin Simon, Tyrike Cunningham, Brayden Keller, and Ryan Joseph, set a new program record with a time of 41.96, good for second place in Saturday's race.

The 4x400-meter relay team also finished in second place with a time of 3:30.06. 

Antonio Reyna set a new program record in the discus throw with a toss of 36.42 meters, good for ninth place.

Tyrike Cunningham placed in seventh for the men's 100-meter dash with a time of 11.05, followed by Omario Johnson in 10th (11.20), Daylen Huff in 13th (11.60), and Colby Keller in 21st (12.28).

In the 200-meter dash, Crispin Mbii finished in 14th, followed by Daylen Huff in 16th and Brayden Keller in 19th.

 

On the women's side, Laura Barrios Bardi set a new program record with a throw of 31.34 meters in the women's discus. Cameryn McColley earned a second place finish in the long jump, with a leap of 4.6 meters, which also set a program record. McColley also set a program record in the women's high jump at 1.51 meters, which was good for a fourth-place finish on Saturday.

Alayna Nichols came close to the program record in shot put with a throw of 10.06 meters and finished in sixth place. Nichols was followed by Laura Barrios Bardi in eighth (9.47m), and Mckayla Steckley in 11th with a throw of 6.20 meters.

Savannah Creech earned a fourth-place finish in the women's 400 meter race, with a time of 1:03.02.

Creech and Ah'Briana Avery earned 10th and 12th place finishes in the 200 meter dash, respectively.

 

WHAT'S NEXT?

The Drovers will return to the track on March 22-23 as they compete at the Masked Rider Open on the campus of Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas.
