Drovers Conclude Texas Road Trip at SAGU

WAXAHACHIE, Texas – Saturday afternoon, the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (4-4, 1-3 SAC) concluded their Texas road trip with a 3-set loss at No. 24 ranked Southwestern Assemblies of God University (6-5, 4-0 SAC).

 

 SAGU opened the match on a 7-0 run and went on to cruise to a 25-9 victory in the first set. The Drovers got off to a much better start in the second set and held an early lead, but SAGU rallied back and won the set 25-10. The Drovers kept within striking distance for the majority of the third set, but SAGU went on to conclude the sweep with a 25-21 victory.

 

As a team, SAGU was very efficient and effective on offense, putting away 42 kills on a .293 attack percentage. In comparison, USAO only produced 12 kills on a -.099 clip. The Lions were also solid on defense, recording 53 digs and 6.0 total blocks, while the Drovers only had 29 digs and 3.0 total blocks. 

 

WHAT'S NEXT?

The Drovers will return home as they host Langston University on Tuesday, September 12. First serve is scheduled for 6:00 PM CT inside Drover Fieldhouse.
