Drovers Fall in Three at Friends
WICHITA, Kan. – Wednesday night, the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (3-2, 0-0 SAC) was dealt a tough 3-0 loss on the road at Friends University (5-1, 0-0 KCAC).
The Drovers got off to a rough start in the first set and trailed 17-6 midway through. The struggles continued for USAO and Friends claimed a 25-12 win in the opening set.
In the second set, USAO got off to a much better start and held an early 6-4 lead. The teams continued to trade points, and the Falcons held a slim 13-12 lead midway through the set. Friends commanded the remainder of the set and won 25-18, taking a two-set lead in the match.
The Falcons were in full control of the third set and led 16-4 midway through, prior to wrapping up the match with 25-11 win.
As a team, the Drover offense produced 18 kills on a -.066 attack percentage, meanwhile the Falcons tallied 34 kills on a .258 attack percentage. The USAO setters registered 18 assists, while Friends dished out 26 assists. The Drover defense produced 31 digs and 3.0 total blocks, compared to the Falcons with 42 digs and 5.0 total blocks.
Bruna Duarte and Morgan Kobe led the USAO offense was four kills each. Mallory Miller dished out a team-high of eight assists, along with five digs, and an ace. Brynlee Birney led the defense with six digs.
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Drovers will be back in action on Friday, August 30 as they play a double-header against Mission University (Mo.) at 12:00 PM CT, followed by a 5:00 PM CT start time against Avila University (Mo.). The matches will be played on the campus of College of the Ozarks in Point Lookout, Mo.
