Stars Drop the Drovers in Three in OKC

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – Saturday afternoon, the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (7-11, 3-6 SAC) was dealt a 3-0 loss on the road at Oklahoma City University (7-8, 7-2 SAC). 

 

The Drovers got off to a slow start in the opening set and trailed 11-4, prior to cruising to a 25-15 win. 

The Stars jumped out to a 15-6 lead in the second set and went on to take a 2-0 lead in the match with a 25-16 triumph. OCU put the match away with a 25-13 win in the third set.

 

As a team, the Drover offense was held to a -.029 attack percentage with 21 kills, while the Stars recorded a .214 attack percentage and 39 kills. USAO's setters dished out a total of 20 assists, meanwhile the defense produced 35 digs and 10 total blocks. Oklahoma City produced 39 assists, 51 digs, and nine total blocks. Additionally, USAO was unable to score on any service aces, while OCU tallied five aces. 

 

Alacia Ledoux led the USAO offense with seven kills, followed by Jaedyn Adams-Brown with five. 

Bailey Makahununiu dished out a team-high of 10 assists, along with six digs. Josie Joyce added six assists and six digs.

Brynlee Birney recorded nine digs, followed by Yaiza Larrauri with eight.

 

WHAT'S NEXT?

The Drovers will return to Brisco McPherson Court on Friday, October 4 as they host Oklahoma Panhandle State University. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 PM CT inside Drover Fieldhouse.
