
The Drovers Sweep the Tigers on the Road in Kansas
MCPHERSON, Kan. – Friday night, the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (10-13, 6-8 SAC) earned their 10th win of the season with a three-set triumph on the road at Central Christian College (1-20, 1-14 SAC). With the victory, the Drovers now own a 5-5 record against the Tigers, including wins in five of their last seven meetings.
The Drovers got off to a good start to open the match, jumping out to an early 9-4 advantage. USAO went on to claim the opening set with 25-15 victory.
The teams traded points early in the second set and the Drovers held a narrow 13-12 lead midway through the frame. The set remained evenly matched until the very end, but USAO was able to edge CCC for a 26-24 win and took a commanding two-set lead in the match.
The third set was much like the second, with USAO holding a narrow 13-11 lead halfway through the set. The Drovers clung to a 26-24 victory to wrap up the match.
As a team, the Drover offense compiled an incredible .171 attack percentage with 38 kills, while the Tigers recorded a .120 attack percentage and 34 kills. USAO's setters dished out a total of 36 assists, meanwhile the defense produced 58 digs and 6.5 total blocks. Central Christian produced 33 assists, 43 digs, and 5.0 total blocks. Additionally, USAO scored on five service aces, while CCC tallied six aces.
Jaliyah Cox led the USAO offense with 11 kills on a .200 attack percentage. Jaedyn Adams-Brown, Victoria Southerland, and Giselle Calderon each added six kills, followed by Morgan Kobe with five and Alacia Ledoux with four.
Bailey Makahununiu contributed a match-high of 17 assists, along with eight digs on defense. Josie Joyce recorded her fifth double-double of the season as she dished out 11 assists and 10 digs.
Brynlee Birney concluded with a match-high of 15 digs, in addition to six assists and a pair of aces. Yaiza Larrauri was also solid on defense, adding seven digs.

The Drovers will return to action on Tuesday, October 22 when they travel to Langston University. First serve is scheduled for 6:00 PM CT inside C.F. Gayles Field House in Langston, Okla.
